Haunted Outcast

You are haunted by something so terrible that you dare not speak of it. You have fled the rest of society in an effort to escape it. Through your time in isolation, you have learned how to survive off of the wilds of the land. You may have even come to respect and revere nature and wildlife.

Languages: Choose one exotic language (Abyssal, Celestial, Deep Speech, Draconic, Infernal, Primordial, Sylvan, or Undercommon)
Equipment: A staff, a hunting trap, a trophy from an animal you killed, a set of traveler’s clothes, and a belt pouch containing 10 gp; or A monster hunter’s pack, a set of common clothes, and one trinket of special significance (off of the trinket table of your choice)

Feature: Wanderer

You have an excellent memory for maps and geography, and you can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you. In addition, you can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.

A Dark Reason

Prior to becoming an adventurer, your life was disrupted by a mysterious circumstance that followed you, a dark act, or a tragedy that caused you to shun the world. Now your past is threatening to consume you, and you fear there may be no hope of escape. Choose a dark reason that compels you, or roll one on the Dark Reason table.

Suggested Characteristics

Often tortured by their past, haunted outcasts tend to struggle to fit in among city-folk. As an outcast the strong bonds you do manage to form are precious, regardless if it be with family, a friend, or nature itself.
